As much as you love on-demand content, you might prefer watching live TV. If Hulu is your streaming channel of choice, you’ll be happy to learn that watching live TV is now an option. Whether you’re looking to get rid of cable or watch high-quality broadcast TV, Hulu now offers the best of both worlds for your enjoyment.

This is a relatively new option for customers. If you’re thinking about upgrading your plan, there are a few things you need to know.

1. How much does Hulu Live TV cost?

Hulu streaming is inexpensive, costing only $7.99 a month, which is far less than a cable subscription. You’ll pay more per month to upgrade to live TV streaming, but this subscription option remains considerably cheaper than cable. Hulu charges $39.99 per month for live TV streaming.

2. What channels come with Hulu Live TV?

Hulu is popular for on-demand content. The selection includes current and old seasons of your favorite shows, plus original content and movies. Live TV streaming is perfect for customers who also enjoy watching live events. The number of live stations in this package is less than some cable packages, but you’ll receive about 50 channels total.

This includes broadcast stations like ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox. Cable stations in this package include Bravo, Cartoon Network, the Disney Channel, FX, TBS, the Travel Channel, USA, Lifetime and much more.

As a bonus, there’s the option to add Showtime for only $8.99 per month. Keep in mind that, while it’s possible to watch ESPN and other sports channels with this subscription, you may not be able to watch all sporting events. Coverage depends on which games are contracted for your area.

3. Which devices support Hulu Live TV?

You need to own one or more supported devices to take advantage of Hulu Live TV. If you have an iPad, iPhone, Android or Windows phone, you can watch live TV from these devices. You can also watch via Apple TV, Roku, Xbox or Amazon Fire TV.

Currently, you can’t watch Hulu Live TV from a Mac or Windows computer. This option may become available in the future.

4. Does Hulu Live TV have a DVR option?

If you watch live TV, you might prefer a DVR service. Digital video recording has changed the way many of us watch television. We can fast forward through commercials and get through programs quicker.

Hulu Live TV comes with Cloud DVR storage. Upon subscribing, you’ll receive 50 hours of Cloud DVR, which means you can record live TV and watch at a later time. If you record a lot of live TV, you may need more than 50 hours of storage. For an extra $14.99 per month, upgrade to 200 hours of Cloud DVR storage.

5. How many devices can I stream simultaneously with Hulu Live TV?

Hulu Live TV allows streaming on up to two devices (on the same account) simultaneously. This is under the base subscription. If you have a larger household and need additional streams, consider upgrading to a premium subscription for $14.99 a month. This way, you can stream content from as many devices as you like simultaneously, with one caveat: these devices must be connected to your home’s Wi-Fi. If you watch Hulu outside your home, the premium subscription only allows streaming on three devices at a time.

Streaming channels are constantly evolving to give customers what they need and want. If you’ve been looking for an option that allows on-demand content and live TV, Hulu Live TV is one of the most cost-effective options available.
